TRANSPORTATION
Arnprior is situated along the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 417). The town is served by the Arnprior Airport, elevation 109
metres (358 ft) and a nearby floatplane base for general aviation; scheduled commercial flights leave from the
Ottawa/Macdonald-Cartier International Airport, 56 kilometres to the east.
Arnprior is waiting to see if existing CN and CP railway could eventually be used for communter-rail into Ottawa. Our railways
have a long history in the area. The first to reach Arnprior was called the Canada Central Railway; on December 6, 1864.
Through upgrades, the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) main line was established. Later the Canadian National Railway (CNR)
came and, through the majority of the 20th century, Arnprior was served by both major Canadian railways .
Some track has been pulled up in recent years and is now being used for trails for hiking and recreational winter sports like ski-
doing.

TOURISM
Arnprior, aka "the Prior", is truly a ‘valley’ town. The town is located at the confluence of the
Ottawa and Madawaska rivers. The Trans-Canada Highway runs through the edge of Arnprior
on Highway 417.
Just west of the Canada's National Capital Region, Anrprior’s boundaries are tucked east-west
between the City of Ottawa (Herrick Street), and with McNab/Braeside (along Division Street).
From the early days of a logging community, the entire area is still preserved in physical
beauty. Arnprior also holds an abundance of wildlife in the town's local forest, the Grove. Of
note are the many walking and biking trails in Arnprior. Additionally the rivers and local lakes
encourage many forms of water recreation.
